The versatility of calcium carbonate
Naturally occurring calcium carbonate is the primary mineral in limestone, chalk, and marble. It is one of the most versatile, naturally occurring minerals, providing solutions for many of today’s manufacturing and agriculture challenges.
We source our calcium carbonate from a pure white marble originally formed over 400 million years ago along an ancient tropical coastline. Here calcium carbonate formed vast underwater sand dunes which, over the next 350 million years, were buried and accreted onto the western coast of North America. Intruding magma heated the dunes to over 400°C, transforming them into the high purity marble from which our products are made.
Calcium carbonate is a critical ingredient in many of the products we rely on every day, from our houses and offices, our fields and water supply, to the books we read and the packaging we open. It improves product functionality, performance, and sustainability.
Columbia River Carbonates is committed to the continual development of calcium carbonate products while minimizing the environmental impact of our mining operation, production facilities, and our products.
